Our History

Get to know more about what makes us different.

Grace Community is a church plant from Christ Point Church. Christ Point’s leadership was looking at establishing a ministry in Flour Bluff. Jess Cole, who was senior pastor there, felt God’s call to step down and lead this new church in the Flour Bluff area. Jackie Cole became the worship leader and Ruth Gonzales became our children's minister. Both are still serving in those ministries. Grace Community began meeting in the Flour Bluff Conference Center in 2011 for 9 months and then moved into a space by Gulf Coast Marine (fondly called the boat barn) in October 2011. In 2013, we purchased our current property at 1514 Flour Bluff Dr. and moved in October 6, 2013. There was a small church building and house on the property and we met in those buildings for a year while our new Worship Center was being built.
On October 19, 2014, we celebrated the grand opening of our new worship center and classrooms. In the Fall of 2015, we began construction on our new children's wing and moved into it on February 7, 2016. As the church continued grow, Tori Sherman came on staff as our youth minister in June of 2017. Then in the summer of 2018, we began a new building project to almost double the seating capacity of our worship center and to add a youth center, offices, more parking and another classroom. We moved into the new addition on April 14, 2019 and now have room to continue to reach more people for Christ.
